The Best Thing About the First Meeting of the Year
20 August, 2012
There are lots of things I HATE about the full faculty meeting. Hate the cheerleading, for example.
But I really love seeing my colleagues from all over the university, and being reminded that I work with some truly cool and interesting people. Also, one of our divisions is just getting scary in how well qualified their hires are. Wow.
update: the rest of my day was like Christopher Hill’s 17th C.

Not, I hope, “An Experience of Defeat”, but rather “A World Turned Upside Down”. None of us need a century of revolution.
And it’s CH’s centenary this year…
Definitely the latter! And I did not know that!
Christopher Hill would have been 100? (Or is he still alive?)
Glad your first meetings were so productive. We get to hire again (Yay!) but into what kind of a department with what kind of a mission, I don’t know (boo!)
