So much to say, so little time

8 March, 2012

So I’ve been getting ready to leave on an Awfully Big Adventure to Forn Parts. Why? well, it turns out that it’s part of the Huge Pile of Shit I wrote about a while back. Apparently, some insane voice in the back of my head told me that being the Professional Good Girl and Helping Out would make the HPoS better. Not so much. It’s made me more stressed. Having said that, I am going on the adventure with many people who seem very cool, and I don’t think I could have a better set of companions. Still, it’s meant I’ve had no time for anything except barely keeping up with classes and planning the Adventure. So tonight, while I’ve been madly trying to get things together, grade, prep for tomorrow’s classes, etc., I listened to music. I thought it might be nice to at least share some of it with you:

With luck, I’ll have a little time to blog from Forn Parts, where there are the ruins of four empires. If not, I’ll be back with some stuff about teaching a gender class, politics, new teaching stuff, and possibly even something vaguely medieval before I leave again for a couple of days with Chaucer’s Wife (aka The Director), three of my students and eight of hers, on a Road Trip to the Back Of Beyond, where our students will participate in a conference, and I will try not to freak out entirely, since the Awfully Big Adventure means not being able to shepherd the papers properly…

I’m sort of jealous. Not the planning part, of course. Nor the herding. But it’s a place I’ve never been and I’ve wanted to go ever since I read the notorious book mumblety-mumble years ago. So enjoy it. And overeat.

Photos or it didn’t happen! But seriously, I hope you get to have some *fun* as well as everything else. Good luck and safe travels!

I’ll point you to the photos — although I’ve just discovered that I didn’t manage to get pictures of the Mithras and Sol Invictus gravestones 😦
