Last Minute Post-doc info — working with Jinty Nelson and Alice Rio

27 November, 2011

Just got this via Early Medieval Forum.

Applications are invited for two postdoctoral Research Associate
positions in the Department of History at King’s College London, to
participate in the AHRC-funded project ‘The Making of Charlemagne’s
Europe, 768-814’. The post-holders will collaborate in creating a
database gathering all the surviving documentary evidence dating from
the reign of Charlemagne. The aim of the database is to present this
material in a fully searchable and mappable form, so as to allow broad
cross-regional links and comparisons. The post-holders will be working
under the supervision of Dr Alice Rio (Principal Investigator) and
Professor Emerita Dame Jinty Nelson (Co-Investigator).
The positions are available from 1 January 2012 for a duration of three
years. Salary will be in the lower Grade 6 range (£33,193-£36,057 per
annum, inclusive of £2,323 London Allowance). *The closing date for
applications is 28 November 2011*. Interviews are scheduled for 12
December 2011.

Surely this is being done by several other bodies. And surely it is not possible to render ALL sources for the reign of Charlemagne fully searchable and mappable in three years?

I suppose it depends on whether the database is already set up, and what one means by ALL the sources. I do know that it would be fantastic to have everything in one place, although that also might put lots of us out of a job.

I do know that I would love to be working on it…

I’ve been surfing on-line greater than 3 hours these days, but I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours. It’s lovely worth sufficient for
me. In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made good content material as you did, the internet can be much more useful than
    ever before.

I am curious to find out what blog platform you’re working with?
I’m having some small security issues with my latest site and I’d like to find something more secure.
    Do you have any solutions?
